How to Adjust Watch Band Links on a Seiko
- 1). Spread a soft cloth on the working surface and place the Seiko on it to avoid scratches and damage, while working on the wristwatch.
- 2). Place the watch sideways, with the thin edge of the links up. Look for the engraved arrows that mark the removable links on both sides of the clasp, since not all of the links can be removed for adjusting. Look for the pin head that hold the links together, which appear as little circles at the edge, on both sides.
- 3). Decide which links you will be removing or adding to achieve the correct measurement. Take into account that the watch band has to have a balance, so don't remove or add links only on one side of the clasp.
- 4). Remove the pin heads using the pointed tool, pushing the pin head in the direction of the arrow. Take two pin heads out, if you are removing a link to shorten -- and remove the remaining link as well. Remove just one pin head if you are adding a link to enlarge the watch band.
- 5). Take the new link, the pinhead you removed and the new pin head that comes with the link, if you are adding one. Take just one pin head if you are removing a link.
- 6). Reattach the watch band, putting the pin heads back into the pin holes to hold the links together. Insert them following the directions marked by the engraved arrows on the inner side of the links. Make sure the links are aligned and that the pin heads went all the way through the pin holes.
