Spring is in the air! The weather is getting warmer, but not too hot.
Spring is one of my favorite times of year..
..
fall is my absolute favorite...
but we will talk about that another time...
Spring Break is a great opportunity to spend some time with your family and NOT break the bank OR lose your sanity! Taking a costly vacation is not the only way to have a wonderful spring break.
You could participate in some fun family activities that you normally do not have time for during the year.
Following are some tips to help you connect with your children frugally! 7 FUN IDEAS FOR STAYING HOME DURING SPRING BREAK: Go to the local library or book store for story time.
You can find these everywhere.
Call your local library or book store to find out when they have their usually weekly story time.
This is a GREAT option for younger kids.
Bake the Break Away.
Get out your kid-friendly cook book and bake some yummy cookies or delectable cupcakes with the kids and let them decorate the finished product.
They LOVE this! Wash the car.
This is a great way to accomplish a task AND have a great time with your kids.
If you live in a warmer area, get the bathing suits out of the closet and scrub a dub dub that dirty car of yours! Make it loads of fun by squirting the kids with the hose and throwing soap suds at each other.
Before long you will be a kid yourself and the laughter will last for a lifetime in your memories.
Family movie night.
Buy some cheap brown lunch bags, zip lock baggies, a large bag of inexpensive candy, sodas or juice boxes, and of course, a great family movie.
Pop the pop corn and put into the brown baggies (one for each member of the family), do the same for the candy in the zip lock baggies, hand out the drinks, put the movie on, and turn down the lights like a real movie theatre.
The kids will really appreciate the effort and you will save TONS of money by staying in.
Trip to the Museum or Seasonal Expo.
Depending on the area you live in and the age of your children, this could be a wonderful option for you.
Check your local activities website or local newspaper and see what is happening during your spring break week.
Many cities have small inexpensive theatre productions, expos, seasonal museum showcases, etc.
Water Break.
If you live near a quite beach that does not attract the college crowd, this could be a great idea for you.
Pack a brown bag lunch and take the kids to the beach for the day...
or a nearby lake if that is a better option for you.
Park Days.
Get your Frisbee, kites, balls, and hoola hoops out.
Throw them in the trunk and go spend the afternoon at the park playing, jumping, and being a kid WITH your kids.
The point I am trying to make is HAVE FUN.
ENJOY your kids.
You only have them for a short time...
soon they will have lives of their own...
- Laugh with them More - Play with them More - Run with them More - Spend more QUALITY time with them - Tickle them More - Love them MORE You can enjoy spring break with your kids and not spend a lot of money..
..
but even if money is not an issue for you...
money and expensive vacations are NOT what our kids will remember.
Laughing and spraying each other with water while washing the car...
well...
that is just priceless and UNforgettable for them...
and YOU!
