How to Perform the Brazilian Spider Hold
- 1). Lay down on the ground to prepare to initiate a spider hold. For the sake of practice, have your opponent lay down on top of you. This will allow you to practice the spider hold.
- 2). Grab your opponent's arms with your hands. Stabilize them in position. Shoot your feet out and grasp the opponent using the soles of your feet. You can grab them at the biceps, hips or thighs to execute a spider hold. This creates the appearance of a spider comprised of your body and that of the opponent.
- 3). Initiate your next move. The spider hold serves the purpose of setting up your next move, ultimately leading to a submission. You can go from a spider guard directly into a joint lock, chokehold or other finishing move.
