How to Install Cable TV Wire to Room
- 1). Locate the cable TV connection that is on the baseboard of a wall in your home.
- 2). Screw the connector at one end of the coaxial cable into the cable TV connection. Tighten the connector with a quarter turn of pliers.
- 3). Run the cable TV wire across the baseboard of the wall until you come to the television that will be used with the converter box. Staple the cable wire to the baseboard of the wall with U-clamp staples; alternately, you may tape the coaxial cable to the baseboard with vinyl tape that is the same color as that of the baseboard.
- 4). Place the cable TV converter box next to the TV. Plug its power cord into a wall outlet for power. Screw the free end of the cable TV wire into the single input connection on the back that matches the connector that is on the baseboard of the wall. Tighten the connector with a quarter turn of a pliers.
- 5). Insert one end of an S-video cable into the S-video output on the back of the converter box. Insert the other end into the S-video input on the back or side of the television.
- 6). Insert the red and white RCA plugs at one end of the audio cable into the red and white RCA audio outputs on the back of the cable TV converter box. Insert the red and white RCA plugs at the other end of the audio cable into the red and white RCA audio inputs on the back or side of the television.
- 7). Turn the television using the remote. Press the "Menu" button, followed by "System" -- although in some cases, the actual menus to select vary by name depending upon the TV's manufacturer. Select "video input," then the "S-video" input from the selection of choices presented on the screen. Press the "Menu" button to exit the menu.
