A week after The Weeknd reclaimed the top of the pop singles chart, Justin Bieber comes along and knocks him back to #2 with "What Do You Mean?" It is Justin Bieber's very first #1 hit and the 23rd song to debut at the top. It is a solid effort gaining positive comments from some past critics. The Weeknd should not complain much, however. His single "The Hills" moves up on more notch to #3 giving him his third top 3 pop hit this year so far. It also gives him two of the top three this week. Demi Lovato looks set to enter the top 10 soon with her late summer hit "Cool For the Summer." It climbs six notches this week to #11. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis return impressively with "Downtown." It takes a massive leap this week from #94 into the top 20 at #18 this week.

The Weeknd celebrates his pop singles chart success this week by debuting at #1 with his album Beauty Behind the Madness. It is the second biggest debut week of the year so far trailing only Drake. The Weeknd's first album Kiss Land reached #2. Debuting at #2 this week is 20-year-old singer-songwriter Halsey with Badlands. She has reached the alternative songs top 40 with her single "New Americana." The album has gained much publicity through Halsey's following on YouTube. Taylor Swift returns to the top 5 once again with her massive hit album 1989. Opening strongly at #7 is country music duo Maddie & Tae with their debut release following the hit singles "Girl In a Country Song" and "Fly." Alternative music duo Beach House earn their second top 10 charting album with Depression Cherry following 2012's top 10 hit Bloom. Singer-songwriter Ben Rector pulls into the top 10 this week for the first time with his sixth studio album Brand New.
