How do I Percolate Coffee & Have No Grains?
- 1). Grind your coffee a little coarser than if you were using a drip coffee pot. The finer grounds have a dust that can slip through the percolator basket and leave grit in the bottom of your cup. If you have your beans ground at a coffee shop, tell them to set the machine to do a coarser grind.
- 2). Pour your finished coffee through a porcelain coffee filter lined with a coffee filter. This will ensure that even if your grind is too fine, you can have a cup of clear filtered coffee.
- 3). Let your freshly made coffee sit for a few minutes before you pour it. When you do pour it, do so gently so you don't disturb any of the grinds that have sunk to the bottom of the pot. Typically, the percolated coffee is boiling hot when it is finished, so letting it sit will bring it down to a drinkable temperature.
