How to Make Paper Flowers From Magazine Pages
- 1). Collect a pile of discarded magazines with glossy pages and lots of brightly colored photographs. Use a compass or a dish and a marker to outline a circle on a magazine page. Cut out the circle with scissors and lay it flat on the work table. Fold the paper in half and crease it. Fold each side over at a 60-degree angle to form a triangular shape. Cut off the bottom two corners to make a cone shape.
- 2). Use a marker to draw several different designs and patterns for flower petals on the paper. Make some petals pointed and some rounded on the ends. Draw long, skinny petals and short fat ones. Cut away the excess paper outside the marker lines. Unfold the paper to reveal the flower petals. Fold and crease the petals to make them three-dimensional.
- 3). Combine three or four different petal types to make a complete flower. Stack up the petals and stick a paper fastener through the center of the pile to make a flower bloom. Roll up some green magazine pages for stems. Use a glue stick to hold the tubes together. Arrange the flowers in a vase for display.
- 4). Make some paper roses by tearing out pink, red, yellow or white magazine pages. Make a circular shape by cutting off the page corners. Draw a spiral on the page. Cut along the lines of the spiral. Start at the end of the spiral and roll it up tightly into a flattened rosette shape. Bend back the paper edges and allow the paper spiral to unroll until it looks like a rose. Secure the back of the bloom with white glue.
- 5). Cut out some yellow or white strips of paper to make daisies. Fold the strips backwards and forwards, accordian-style, and crease the paper. Staple the ends of the strips together to make a circular shape. Stand the paper up and push it in toward the center of the circle. Lay the paper flat and squeeze it together to shrink the size of the center hole. Cut out a round piece of cardboard and glue it to the center to hold the flower together.
