How to Get More Life Out of a Dead Cell Phone Battery

    • 1). Hold down your phone's power button and attempt to turn it on again. Although your phone probably will die again upon turning back on, the few seconds or minutes you get upon re-booting might be just enough to tell your friend on the other line what's going on. Additionally, if you use a smart phone, such as an iPhone or Blackberry, the reason for your phone shutting down in the first place may be related to its computer functions, rather than its battery.

    • 2). Remove your battery from the back of your phone, then re-attach it and try to turn your phone on again. The motion of removing and replacing your battery will generate static electricity, which may be enough to power your phone for a few seconds or minutes.

    • 3). Rub the shiny, metal part of your battery on your clothing or hair to generate additional static electricity. If you've ever rubbed a balloon on your clothing or hair, then you know doing so creates a certain amount of static. Coupling this with the small shock that occurs whenever you attach you battery may allow you time to give your friend an alternate number to call, or to apologize via text message.
