Diets for Gout - Know What to Avoid and Have a Safe Treatment

One positive method toward reducing the negative effects of gout is to implement one of the few beneficial diets for gout. Gout is the result of excessive accumulation of metabolic byproducts of uric acid encompassing and infiltrating the joints. A crystal-like substance called monosodium urate is the primary reason for the pain afflicting the joints, which are made up of uric acid salt.

This monosodium urate accumulates in and around the joints, and it's this accumulation that causes these sharp, searing pains. When this accumulation takes place, the immune system reacts by attacking this inflammation with neutrophils in order to remove the cause of injury. This product of the immune system, after time, accumulates as well, which causes more pain and swelling. When all is said and done, this war destroys the joint, altogether.

Purines are the result of the breaking down of uric acid. Purines are one of the two components consisting of amino acids and complex proteins. These make up the ATP, RNA and DNA. The body, normally, recycles purine by utilizing an enzyme called xanthenes oxidase.

At time, people unknowingly consume unhealthy amounts of purine-rich foods which, after time, become too overwhelming for these enzymes to control. If any drink excessively, or take certain medications, this, too, can reduce the overall effects of these enzymes to where they become unable to produce the beneficial levels of purine.

The enigma to controlling gout is to learn how to control the levels of uric acid. This control comes by decreasing the levels of purines consumed in purine-rich foods. Purine-rich foods, after all, increase the levels of uric acid. Alcoholic beverages, for one, must be avoided.

Alcohol decreases the proper functions of the kidney. As the functions of the kidneys decrease, this allows for excessive amounts of uric acid to increase at an alarming rate, more than the immune system can handle in most cases. Carbohydrates and saturated fats also increase uric acid so, obviously, these should be avoided, too.

High-protein diets should also be avoided seeing that this increases the levels of amino acids which, in turn, displace uric acid in the kidneys. Hence, the amino acids get forced back into the blood stream which raises the levels of uric acid.

For safety measures, notify a doctor if any symptoms occur within the joint areas. This pain will only increase if ignored. Notifying a professional is the only way to receive proper medication, if any is necessary, and a proper diet in order to decrease and/or eliminate the afflictions associated with gout. There are, after all, quite a few diets for gout prescribed according to each individual.

This is also true for medications, as well. If weariness occurs as to actually visiting a doctor, information about the causes, effects and cures of gout can be found but, regardless of this, a visit to a professional is inevitable, to say the least. The worse that's going to happen is that the pain will decrease and overall health will increase. There's nothing to lose but pain and discomfort itself/
