Armed & Dangerous Hints
- The best way to stay alive in "Armed & Dangerous" is to keep moving while shooting at enemies. The game does not encourage the use of cover or even much aiming. The main character, Roman, will usually die if you leave him in a single position for very long. You also need to run up to fallen enemies to pick up health and ammo.
- The more ridiculous weapons in "Armed & Dangerous," such as the Land Shark Gun, and most of the bombs, tend not to be too useful. They are fun, but have such low ammo capacity that they are not worthwhile. The one exception is the Topsy Turvy Bomb, which flips the world upside-down. This causes all the enemies on the screen to fly into the air. After a couple of seconds the world flips right-side-up, causing all the enemies to take a large amount of damage when they land. The weapon can kill most large groups of enemies instantly. The main weapon you will use for most of the game is the mundane machinegun. With it, you can kill multiple enemies in the same time another weapon can only kill one.
- On most missions, Roman is accompanied by his two allies, Jonesy and Q. You have no way to control either one. If any enemy near Jonesy starts running around in a panic, you can ignore it. That indicates Jonesy planted an explosive that will kill that enemy in a few seconds. Q has the ability to throw health power-ups if Roman is low on health. You can tell that Q has thrown a health power-up because he will ask if you want a cup of tea. Jonesy and Q both can regain health from the Pub or health power-ups. Neither will automatically run to get health power-ups, though, so you need to lead them to it--make sure all the enemies are cleared out first.
- You need to be careful when entering Pubs during a mission. Pubs automatically save the game and only can heal a certain amount of health for the entire mission. You might be rendered unable to complete a mission if you enter a Pub with low health after using up all the Pub's healing pool. You can conserve the Pub healing pool by trying to pick up healing power-ups rather than using the Pub pool. Pubs do replenish your ammo completely, which can be quite useful right before going into areas swarming with enemies.
