Hi, I'm Barb Pierson from White Flower Farm here in Litchfield, Connecticut. It's so great in the Spring to see beautiful things like Bleeding Hearts and Polygonum come up. It's not hard to landscape with shade plants. There's all kinds of shade, full shade, there's dappled shade, you might have part shade. The best thing to do is to choose plants that are easy care, Dicentra, which is The Bleeding Heart is a great choise for a shade garden. Also, Hosta, so many people use Hosta in the shade and Hosta are great because they can take dry shade or moist shade. Same with your Bleeding Hearts. If you choose the right plants for shade, you'll have great success. You can see here a beautiful tapestry of colors with your Polygonum, Dicentra and your Hosta. There's lost of pre-planned gardens for shade so you can choose gardens that are already designed for you and you'll have great success with your shade garden. Some of the plants we have here are perennial so they come up every year and you plant them and basically they take care of themselves. When planting your landscaping for shade, choose plants that come back every year and bloom in the shade. By choosing easy care perennials for your shade garden, you'll have a gorgeous tapestry of color even in the shade. That's why we love shade plants here at White Flower Farm.
