Sometimes when you have this skin condition, you can not run to the doctor to find some relief.
For those times, you have to rely on what you have at hand.
However, not all things work in getting relief for eczema.
Let me tell you what things work and which things only make the symptoms worse.
The first thing you do want to do is not scratch the problem area.
If you do scratch it, you are only going to make the problem worse.
Sure, you may find some relief by scratching it, however, shortly you will notice your symptoms are actually stronger and are worse off than before.
Instead of scratching, you should wet some paper towels with cold water and place them over the affected skin area.
The cold water will bring some comfort as well as some hydration to the affected area.
The itchiness that you feel can be brought up by some type of allergen or it can simply be the result of not being hydrated enough.
For that reason, you should use an unscented lotion.
The lotion will hydrate your skin and will bother you less.
Another thing that you do not want to do is wear wool clothing.
Wool clothing is very abrasive and can scratch and irritate your skin.
If you are seeking relief for eczema, you will avoid wool at all costs.
If you have switched soaps recently and notice that you outbreaks are more frequent or are stronger than before.
Switch back to your old soap.
Sometimes the change of soap can trigger the outbreak as your body is not accustomed to it.
