Get In And Get Out I finally got the meaning and it hit me like a ton of bricks.
You've all probably heard the saying "use it or lose it"; well this is very true in regards to your body's muscles.
Studies have shown that if you lead a sedentary lifestyle, you can potentially lose up to 1lb of muscle every year.
At first, it really doesn't sound like much but over time it can and will add up.
I am going to introduce to you a technique that will literally show you how to gain muscles fast.
Everybody Needs Options When it comes to gaining muscles fast, there are really only 2 options for you to choose from.
Your options are: 1.
Increase the amount of weight used 2.
Increase number of reps That's it and that's all.
Let's now meet your "ally".
Progressive Overload To The Rescue If you haven't already been introduced to the concept of progressive overload, then you are in for a treat.
Progressive overload is the technique of gradually increasing the amount of stress placed on the muscles during your workout in order to force your body to grow more muscle.
Sounds simple but it works extremely well.
One of your body's survival mechanisms is to adapt to any and all stresses that are placed on it in order to survive.
If a tension is paced on the body that is greater than what it normally experiences (i.
e.
more weight on that barbell), it is going to do everything that it can to overcome that tension.
In this case; growing more muscle.
Watch Out All You Couch Potatoes You probably haven't seen someone sitting on the couch watching TV every day, and gradually increasing their muscle mass.
It just doesn't happen.
You need to trick your body into thinking that it needs more muscle via this technique.
Want your body to change; add more stress (not the emotion kind though) and your body will react by improving.
This is how to gain muscles fast.
This progressive overload concept is so powerful that it is also very commonly used in the physical therapy field as well, where muscles have been damaged and are required to re-built.
This technique just plain works.
Remember Your Body Doesn't Care! Your body could care less what goals you have for yourself, what types of exercises you are using or even what kinds of exercise equipment you have.
Its only goal is to help you stay alive and functioning well.
This is where we can use your body's natural instinct and get it to build more muscle for you.
Progressive overload has many more benefits than just helping you gain more muscles fast.
It also strengthens: 1.
Bones 2.
Ligaments 3.
Tendons 4.
Cartilage Doesn't Matter What Exercise You Use This technique is not exercise specific so you can really use it on any exercise you want and get the same great results.
Take a cyclist for example.
This person has been trying to increase their leg muscle strength and so have been working out using dead lift squats (as well as other exercises).
Let's focus on the squat portion of their workouts.
They've been using these for the past 8 weeks and haven't changed a thing (Funny thing though is that they are no longer getting any noticeable results).
Here's the squat portion of the workout: 3 Sets of 8 Reps (Dead Lift Squats) 200' 8 reps 180' 8 reps 150' 7 reps To jumpstart their results again, they could do the following: 3 Sets of 8 reps 210' 8 reps 185 8 reps 150 8 reps All we've done is to increase the weight just a bit, but it will be enough to kick in your body's natural adaptive mechanism to grow more muscle.
Do these sets for the next week or 2 and gradually increase the weight again.
The important thing to note is that if you want results, you need to keep increasing the stress.
Another change that you could also make is to keep the weights the same but increase the number of reps.
This will also get your body building more muscle.
Give It A Try! If you have been trying to figure out how to gain muscles fast, then add some progressive overload into your workouts.
If used properly and consistently you WILL be able to say goodbye to those nasty plateaus and get more done in your workout in less time.
Give them a try!
