  • One child means 20% of supporting party's net income

  • Two children equal to 28% of the supporting party's income

  • Three children mean 32% of the total income of the supporting party

  • Four children would mean the supporting party has to pay 40% of the net income

  • Similarly, five children equal to 45% of the net income of the supporting party

  • Parents with 6 or more children will have to set aside 50% of the net income.

    The court shall apply the above guidelines in all cases unless it finds it inappropriate to use if it has the following evidences:

    • The financial resources available and the needs of the custodian parents

    • Financial resources and the need of the child

    • The physical and emotional condition of the child and his educational requirements

    • The standard of living the child would otherwise have enjoyed had the marriage not got dissolved

    • Financial resources and the needs of non custodial parent

    These are the few child support and custody guidelines that the court of Illinois has laid out to safeguard the future of a child in the event of a divorce.
