How to Change the File Type Associations in Mac OSX

    • 1). Open a new Finder window by clicking the "Finder" icon in the dock.

    • 2). Highlight the icon for the file whose file type association you want to change.

    • 3). Open the "File" menu at the top of the screen; choose the "Get Info" option.

    • 4). Click on the arrow next to "Open With."

    • 5). Open the drop-down menu that appears and choose the application that you want to associate with the selected file type. If you do not see the desired application in the drop-down menu, use the "Other" option to choose from a complete list.

    • 6). Press the "Change All" button to set the new file type association for the entire Mac OS X operating system.

    • 7). Click "Continue" to confirm your decision to change the file type association.
