Cite Resources to Avoid Plagiarism

103 34
One of the challenges involved in online article writing is to create unique articles from your online research.
It's important to cite resources to avoid plagiarism.
When you gather information from a certain website or a certain article, you have a few ways to include the citation in your final article to protect yourself from a charge of plagiarism, scraping, lifting or flat out stealing.
One way to cite resources is to include the source in the text of your article.
For example if you gathered information from a CDC report you can simply state: "In a report dated July 2011 the CDC states that...
" This will let your readers know where the information originated and will help build your credibility by backing up your article with facts.
Another way to include the original source is to include a hyperlink with anchor text that includes the keywords for the article.
This can be done along with an in-text citation or alone.
This provides readers with a handy link to read more on the subject and shows your research and resources.
End of article citations can be placed at the end of the article listing all of your resources.
For example if you gathered information from several online places you can place the title and the URL at the end of the article in case any of your readers want to peruse the information or verify your facts.
Plagiarism is a quick way to ruin an online writing career.
Always take the time to cite your research for any article that involves more than your personal knowledge.
