Natural Way to Get Rid of Blackheads
- Begin by steaming the face. Boil water in a pan, then remove from heat. Stand over the water so the steam hits your face. Drape a towel over your head and shoulders to trap some of the steam in. Your face will begin to sweat, opening the pores and releasing toxins. After standing over the steam for about 10 minutes, your pores will be open and ready for the removal of blackheads.
If you have skin problems, such as rosacea, see your dermatologist before using steam or abrasive cleansers on your face. - After steaming open your pores, mix 1 tsp. of baking soda and 1 tbsp. of warm water in a small bowl. Using your fingers, rub the baking-soda solution on your face---concentrating on your blackheads---in gentle, circular motions. This helps to remove blackheads, clean the pores and exfoliate the skin. Rinse your face with warm water and dab dry with a towel. Apply a natural astringent, such as witch hazel, to your face with a cotton ball.
- After removing blackheads, you will want to prevent them from returning. Mix 1 tsp. of lemon juice and 1 tsp. of ground cinnamon to make a paste. Apply the paste to blackhead-prone areas every other day. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated and to help keep skin clean and fresh.
