How to Fix a Clicking Ignition Switch on a Stovetop
- 1). Lift up the hood of the oven from the front of the unit.
- 2). Locate the ignitor, which sits right before the burner.
- 3). Brush any dirt and debris from around the ignitor using a soft toothbrush. Press the ignitor button to see if a spark is made. If not, you may need to replace the unit.
- 4). Remove the screw from the ignitor guard and lift it up. Push the ignitor down to remove it from the metal bracket it sits in.
- 5). Follow the ignitor wire to the switch at the front of the unit.
- 6). Pull off the knob from the switch.
- 7). Lift up on the switch to remove it from the grooves it sits in.
- 8). Loosen the screws holding the ignitor wires. Replace the switch and the ignitor at this time.
- 9). Insert the wires from the ignitor into the new switch and tighten down the screws. Insert the switch into the grooves and replace the knob. Insert the ignitor into the metal bracket holding the previous ignitor and reinstall the guard.
