Coping With Panic Attacks

103 259
1 out of every 10 of us will experience a panic attack during their lifetime.
These attacks are very scary but are not physically dangerous.
During an attack people will feel out of breath, heart palpitations, chest pains and an overwhelming sense of fear.
They think they have a heart attack, or a stroke and they are going to die.
People who experience these attacks on a regular basis have what is called a panic disorder.
They are usually very afraid of getting an attack and will often avoid certain places where they have gotten attacks in the past.
This can really affect the way they live.
Fortunately there are ways to cope with panic attacks.
By meditating and performing relaxation exercises regularly you can bring them under control.
Not fighting the attacks when they happen will also help you relax.
Focus on your breathing and the attack will pass quickly.
Try to re-assure yourself.
Remind yourself that the attack is nothing serious and that it will pass.
You have had them many times and nothing serious has happened so why be afraid? Just thinking like this can be very effective.
By learning to cope in this way you can bring the disorder under control.
Always try to understand what exactly caused you to have the attack.
This will help you deal with similar situations in the future.
Coping with panic attacks can be challenging but it is not as hard as it seems.
With a little willpower and the right mindset anyone can beat the condition.
