How to Clean a Silver Neck Cross
- 1). Line a dish with aluminum foil and place the cross on the foil. The dish should be deep enough so that the cross and foil can be completely immersed in water. The cross must touch the foil.
- 2). Boil water in a pot. When the water is ready, add baking soda at the ratio of 1 cup per gallon of water.
- 3). Pour the mixture into the dish with the aluminum and the cross. Cover the cross completely with the water-and-soda mixture.
- 4). Allow the cross to soak for several minutes. The tarnish should begin to fade almost immediately.
- 5). When the water cools, remove the cross and clean it with a mild detergent. If any tarnish remains, leave the cross on the foil and add more of the hot water-and-baking-soda mixture.
