How Do I Reproduce My Drawing?

    • 1). Cut a piece of trace paper large enough to cover the drawing. Coat one side of the paper with dark colored chalk or pigment. Rub the pigment into the paper firmly with your fingernail or a bone folder. Be sure the pigment completely and evenly covers one side of the paper.

    • 2). Place the pigmented trace paper onto the blank paper. Be sure the chalked side of the trace paper is in contact with the blank paper. Place the original drawing face-up on top of the trace paper. The back of the original drawing should come into contact with the clean side of the trace paper.

    • 3). Trace the original drawing using a stylus. Be sure to place enough pressure on the drawing so that the chalk from the trace paper will transfer to the blank paper. But do not place too much pressure on the drawing as the paper may tear or become dimpled by the stylus.

    • 4). Remove the original drawing and set aside. Carefully raise the trace paper off the blank paper. The blank paper should now contain a chalk reproduction of the original drawing.

    • 5). Using pencil or ink, outline the image that has been transferred onto the blank paper. When the drawing has been firmly outlined, erase the chalk transfer pigment with an artist-grade eraser. Fill in necessary color as needed in order to correctly represent the original drawing.
