Tea importer, online tea retailer and influential tea wholesaler In Pursuit of Tea opened a tea pop-up shop in New York City on August 12, 2010, and plans to make the shop a more permanent fixture in New York City's tea scene if the reception is positive. It's a welcome addition to the world of quality tea in New York.

Hours of Operation:

In Pursuit of Tea's pop-up shop is open from 12pm to 7pm Monday through Friday and 11am to 7pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Tea Menu:

The In Pursuit of Tea Shop currently offers cold-brewed iced teas. Their Iced Matcha and Iced Scarlet Glow are their most popular teas. Other iced teas (including Darjeeling First Flush and iced oolongs) rotate on and off the menu weekly.

They will offer hot tea starting later in 2010.

Food Menu:

Chef Melanie Franks of the French Culinary Institute prepares a range of pastries for In Pursuit of Tea. Rotating menu items include matcha cakes, tea-infused shortbread and saffron cookies.

Retail:

Limited retail items are sold at In Pursuit of Tea's pop-up shop. They currently offer some teaware and around 15 loose-leaf teas, though there are plans to expand the offerings soon.

Seating:

Most teas are sold to go. However, there is limited seating available, including a bench inside and a bench outdoors.

The shop's ambiance is cozy, with tin ceilings and chipped paint.

Tea Events:

In Pursuit of Tea's owner, Sebastian Beckwith, is planning to hold a series of tea events in the shop. These include a tea and cheese pairing, tea cocktail events and tea classes.
