How to Maintain and Clean a Pergo Floor
- 1). Clean the Pergo floor twice a week or as needed with a dust mop or vacuum cleaner. This removes loose buildup from the Pergo and prevents damage by small stones and other hard objects that could scratch the Pergo laminate.
- 2). Brush a water-dampened mop across the Pergo and let your laminate floor air-dry. Do this weekly or as needed.
- 3). Mix a solution of either 1 cup white vinegar to 1 gallon water or 1/3 cup ammonia to 1 gallon water. You can also use Pergo floor cleaner as instructed. Mop the floor with any of these solutions and allow to air-dry. Use a cleaning solution every two weeks or as needed to thoroughly clean your Pergo floor.
- 4). Place floor protectors on the bottom of furniture. These are typically felt on one side and sticky on the other. Place the sticky side onto the bottom of furniture legs and the felt will touch the Pergo floor, preventing scratches and other damage that furniture can sometimes cause.
- 5). Use throw rugs and area rugs to protect entryways and other high-traffic areas of the room. Vacuum the rugs as needed.
