You wouldn't believe the amount of time you have to put in practicing various chords and techniques on the guitar just to get them right.
When I first got my guitar, for the first week it was always in my hands for at least 6 hours a day! Crazy! I'm not trying to put you off learning the acoustic guitar, just giving you some truth! Anyway, I'm glad I practiced all those hours in the few few months, because it was worth it! Now I'm able to play any song at the request of my friend and family, and boy does my girlfriend love it! So What's The Secret To Learning Guitar? The secret is practice! Yeah I'm being honest, that really is the secret.
I bet you were expecting some magical formula that can have you rocking solo's in the first day, but no,there is nothing like that.
Practice is the key to be able to play the guitar.
The ability to have the patience to practice every single day for a few hours, will have you playing all your favourite songs in justfew weeks! That's all it takes, is practice! What I used to do, is sit in front of the TV with my guitar.
And using my fret hand I'd just practice going between different chords, trying different variations of each chord.
I'd do that for 2 hours without even strumming! Because in my opinion strumming to a rhythm is easy, it's the switching between chords that's the hardest part for me.
It may be different for you, I don't know!
