Resume Searching: Weather to Hire a Freelancer, Contractor or a Full Time Employee

103 119
There always will come a time when you realize you need more help and that you need to make a hire.
This is when you need to start thinking about hiring and resume searching.
The first question that you need to ask is what type of employee you want to hire.
Should you hire a freelancer, contractor or a full time employee? Below I will tell you a little about the benefits of a Freelancer, Contractor and a Full Time Employee.
Freelancer The first choice of hire is a Freelancer.
Freelancers can be hired on a task by task basis and you can hire them to do a variety of different tasks.
Also, with freelancers you don't have to pay benefits or health insurance.
You only pay for the work that they do, by the hour or for a specific project/task.
Keep in mind that many freelancers work from home or remotely and they are not a long term option.
Contractors The next option you have is a contractor.
With a contractor you can hire them for a set period of time.
This is a good option if you have a project that will end.
With contractors, once the project is done, they are no longer needed and they find another project somewhere else.
Once the project is over, you also have the option of bringing them on as a full time employee.
Often people bring on contractors as full time employees if they are impressed with their work and see them as a valuable asset to the company.
One thing you should be away of when hiring on a contractor is that they may be looking for other long term positions when they are working on your project.
If your project has an end date, they will most likely not want to be unemployed in-between job transitions.
This is something you should keep in mind and watch out for.
You do not want a contractor to leave before their contract is over, especially if you are thinking of bringing them on as a full time employee.
Employee Hiring on a full time employee is your best long term option.
If you have enough work and money it is best to pick this option.
Hopefully your employee will have an impact of company growth and grow alongside the company.
Usually full time employees are more vested into their work and into the company because they are a part of it.
They also have more to lose, unlike freelancers and contractors.
With full time employees, of course, you have to pay their health insurance and benefits.
To make this easier, there are many HR companies/payroll services providers that can help you with payroll and benefits.
These companies can take care of your payroll and send paychecks to your employees.
This option may cost more, but it can save you valuable time.
