How to Book Your Flights Online

To experience breeze-through bookings and avoid stressful moments, let us walk you through the five steps of successful online booking.

1. Choose a destination and make a list of the airlines that service your desired route. Almost every airline you can think of these days has an online reservation and booking facilities for local and international destinations. Get their web addresses so you can proceed to the next step. You can see available flight schedules and routes as far as six to eight months ahead on some websites. This will give you ample time to plan your itinerary and schedule your leaves. The same procedure can be applied when booking a hotel-search the internet for hotels in your destination and make a list of those you are considering for your trip.

2. Surf and compare. Check the sites of your preferred carriers and hotels. These should have an online reservation and booking facility that allows you to verify the airfares and room rates for your target travel dates. You can now compare prices and decide which airline and hotel to book.

3. Log on to the website and follow instructions carefully. Different websites have different protocols. Some will require you to create an account first, whereas others allow you to immediately choose your travel dates and provide confirmation right after. Read everything first including the fine print. Avoid double-clicking as this may lead to double-billing. Remember that web site errors are unavoidable because of the large number of people trying to utilize the system at the same time. Should you encounter an error during the booking process, check with your credit card company first if the transaction went through before retrying.

4. Save and print out your confirmation details. After you pay for your online booking, a confirmation message will appear on your screen and/or will be emailed to you. This is very important since it serves as your e-ticket or hotel voucher. The printed message works like a traditional airline ticket or hotel voucher from a travel agency. Just present it to the check-in counter at the airport or hotel along with your passport.
