How to Create a Technology Plan
- 1). Survey the current situation so that you know what areas are working well and what areas are not. Don't assume that just because an area is working well that it couldn't be better. On the other hand, don't assume that a poorly performing area needs technology for improvement.
- 2). Research computer and other technology related to what you are doing. In the areas of your business or life but especially those that need improvement, look for related technology. For example, if you find that you are frequently losing documents, consider what scanning the documents and saving them to a central database might do to improve the situation. Write down a vision for what you want your organization to accomplish with the technology.
- 3). Simulate the difference technology would make in each area and devise a plan and goals based on your finances and time constraints to make technology improvements at timed intervals. Evaluate each update to see how technology is helping and what adjustments may need to be made.
- 4). Train your employees or volunteers or get training for yourself on the new technology. Evaluate how the technology is working and how it is being used. Be on the lookout for adjustments and improvements that can be made.
