I just returned from a 5 day western Caribbean cruise on the Zenith. I could not wait to post a review to maybe help the next person from choosing this line.
This ship lacked entertainment. We were unfortunatly booked to the late dinner.
We ate dinner at 8:30 and finished around 10 pm. To see a show, we would have to see it at 10:45 pm. This was the only good entertainment on the ship. As I said we ate dinner at 8:30 and we had nothing to do from say 2pm to 8 pm. There was nothing going on on the ship.
We took a day excursion which brought us back to the ship around 8:15. Too late to get ready and get to dinner on time. No alternative. We were able to get a dried up piece of pizza. They did not have food available for people who missed dinner. Another time, I got a plate of pasta from the pasta bar. They had bins of silverware there. He handed me the pasta and I said there are no forks. He looked at the bin and said no there are not. I said could you get some. He said no. Unbelievable!
Due to rough seas -- no fault of the ship -- the pool activities were cancelled. There was no back up plan -- a whole day at sea with nothing to do! The evening entertainment was also cancelled for rough seas the evening before. A totally boring cruise.
Upon time to check out. We were to meet at the lounge at 9:45 am. We arrived at 9:30. Our color was lavender. I heard the staff say all passengers with lavender should have already left the ship. When I asked "Did you say lavender?" The rude staff said "I called you a long time ago". I pointed out that we were early and he rudly said "Well I guess were ahead of schedule!" There was no way for us to know this -- no anouncement -- no communication.
Hot tub was cold, or should I say luke warm. No way to adjust it.
Rooms wer old and shabby; my beadspread had a stain on it all week.
Nothing grand on this ship -- no grand entrance, no grand staircase, no grand dining. Ship was basically a maze.
I ate breakfast with different people every morning, and all had the same view. This is the worst cruise that I have ever been on, and unfortunately it was the first cruise for the person I went with and they have no desire to cruise again after this.
One positive note - the dining room staff and food were outstanding.
