The basic guide to Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is one of those Caribbean islands that offer you a laidback lifestyle. In fact, that is exactly what most people look for when it comes to a vacation. You don't have to worry about the kind of weather and the best time of the year to get there simply because the weather is consistent through most of the year. The average temperature is about 86 degrees F and the coolest is around 73 degree F. If you must have a good time to visit then mid-December and all through April is when you should make your bookings.

It is hurricane time between June and November as well as between September and October, but this does not mean that the crowds visiting here are any less. Puerto Rico is one of the places that can be visited on a budget. You just have to be smart about your accommodation and your food.

To those people coming to Puerto Rico for the first time, the place can seem a little strange and filled with so many places to see. If you are more of an outdoor kind of person then do make sure to visit Isla Mona, which can literally take you on a treasure hunt. If you are looking to experience nature without too long of a drive, then visit the Bosque Estatal de Carite. It is placed in the central mountains. Once you are done with these places you can give yourself a treat and change the pace of things.

One of the most important things you need to do is let go of all those pre-fabricated itineraries and make one of your own. For those who love history, you need to get yourself to Viejo San Juan as it is known. This is the oldest locality and one of the most well preserved ones. It is more of pensioners paradise and the lifestyle here is quiet and laidback. Head to the baroque plaza as well as the military forts in the region. Follow this up with a visit to the south coast of Ponce and wander through the museums and the Spanish colonial buildings you find here.

Puerto Rico has a lot to offer to every kind of traveler. Based on your interests you can plan a massive itinerary for yourself. Of course you will need to keep things a bit flexible so that you can take in some of the sights you may hear off on the way.
