How to Use Lavender Oils
- 1). Apply a few drops of lavender oil to a handkerchief, hold it to your nose and slowly inhale the scent to reduce stress and aid relaxation. Or massage a few drops of lavender oil into your temples to help unwind after a long day. Mix a spray bottle of mineral water and several drops of lavender oil and spritz it on your face on a hot day.
- 2). Apply lavender oil directly to cuts, mosquito and bug bites, scrapes and minor burns to soothe pain and potentially reduce scarring. Use your fingers, or apply a few drops of lavender to a cotton ball and dab it on.
- 3). Make a cold compress out of cold water and lavender oil to relieve a headache. Place it on your head and lay down in a dark room for half an hour. Rubbing lavender oil into your temples, forehead and the back of your neck is also said to help with headaches, especially those caused by tension. Taking a warm bath with several drops of lavender added to the water is another option.
- 4). Add a few drops of lavender oil to your shampoo to scent your hair. Dabbing some lavender oil on the bristles of your hairbrush before you use it also can add shine and scent to your hair.
