How to Hang Paintings With Hanging Wire Into Plaster Walls
- 1). Hold the painting up to the wall to see where you want it. For small paintings, hold the hanging wire in the center. Wherever your finger is when the painting is positioned properly is where the anchor will go, so mark the spot on the wall. For larger paintings, work with a partner and use two anchors.
- 2). Drill into the plaster to the prescribed depth for the anchor. The anchor must be able to be inserted completely. If not, the anchor could fall out precipitously.
- 3). Insert the anchor and push it in completely.
- 4). Insert the screw into the anchor. Use the screwdriver to screw it in. Leave about a quarter inch exposed. Test the anchor with an easy tug to ensure it will hold.
- 5). Slide the painting onto the wall so the wire catches the exposed screw head. Slide the painting gently to the left or right to straighten it.
