Uses for Short Fiber Bearing Grease

Keeping the moving parts of any vehicle greased is important to the long-term health of the vehicle. The many different greases available, from synthetic to fiber grease, have different applications. Short fiber bearing grease, for example, has a few uses that the other grease types don't. Short fiber bearing grease is more liquid than typical greases and is silicon-based for longer protection. - The chassis of a vehicle includes the main components of the frame. The frame of a vehicle is made to flex and bend but be solid enough to withstand a significant beating. Because of the great amount of strain on the chassis bearings at a relatively low temperature compared to other areas of the vehicle, short fiber bearing grease works well because the silicon-based fibers stay in the bearings longer. The grease protects them from rust and allows them to move freely.
- An enclosed gear box assembly needs to be constantly lubricated in order to keep the gears from overheating and warping or breaking. Short fiber bearing grease is ideal for this, as the grease is not directly exposed to water and can be constantly moved throughout the gear box without breaking down quickly, like synthetic greases do. This extends the life of the gear box.
- Even though long fiber bearing grease is typically used for wheel bearings, short fiber bearing grease will work just as well because of the liquid-like nature of the lubricant. This allows the short fiber bearing grease to work into the wheel bearing, keeping the entire bearing greased rather than just the portions of the bearing that the grease comes in direct contact with.
