What is more, this dessert requires usage of some saturated types of shortening so that it could have a perfect texture.
You may wonder what purposes of figs are in the whole process.
They perfectly add texture and flavor, and the results are wonderful when one adds chopped dates too.
Even apples are perfect additions.
The recipe must also contain spices such as the nutmeg, allspice or even something like cinnamon.
In place of custard, one could use a mix of thick cream, sugar, milk and eggs.

Rum and cognac are also special forms that would serve the same purpose.

All the ingredients should mix properly and consistently.

Once everything is ready, the next step would be steaming.
Hence, you should have a pressure cooker, which has an inner pot that would host your mixture.
You should also use a lid to cover the top of the cooker.
The lid and the inner pot create a pressure chamber, which would be adequate for steaming your foods fully.
Another alternative is using a boiler and another appliance inside it.
What you should do is pouring water into the larger boiler.
Then place the figgy pudding mixture inside the inner appliance and float it in the boiler.
You should not forget to cover tightly to ensure proper steaming.
