How to Make a Bootable USB Drive With Ubuntu
- 1). Install GParted (see link in Resources). Open the terminal and type "sudo apt-get install gparted." Enter your root password and select "Yes," if prompted.
- 2). Format your USB drive. Connect your USB drive and run GParted. Click the GParted menu and click "Devices" to select your USB drive. Create a New Partition Table and format a partition for ext2, ext3 or ext4.
- 3). Download UNetBootin (see link in Resources). Choose Linux if you are running Linux. Choose Windows if you are currently booted in Windows.
- 4). Download an Ubuntu disk image (see link in Resources). Download the latest release as an .iso. Or you can simply insert a previously burned LiveCD.
- 5). Run UNetBootin. Choose the downloaded Ubuntu disk image. Choose your USB drive as the target. Click "OK."
