Helping Each Other
I believe the single biggest problem with any relationship is you stop talking. You avoid the subject that upset you the most, thus really just creating another set of problems. Don't stop talking to each other. It's so easy to clam up when times are tough. It's so easy to try to keep things to yourself to keep the peace or because you fear that you'll be a burden. Silence creates isolation. Even if you just need to vent, do it. I remind yourself that you need to hear him or her, even when they think they have nothing to say. I share even my bad days, warning her in advance that I don't expect a solution, just because I need to share. Communication is a much-needed bond during tough times.
There is a need during rough times to support each other mentally, it's not a matter of laying blame when times are tough that will do nothing but be counter productive to the relationship. Instead, work on making each other feel better. One of the keys to a solid relationship is supporting each other. You fell in love and wanted to have a life together so work at it, be a team! A relationship is about teamwork and a partnership. It's about two people working together to build a life. No matter what is happening, remember to work together in every situation you can. No matter what, we're sticking it out and working together. Change your attitude if you must, take a minute and go look in the mirror!
Dig down and find a little more patience with one another. Not everyone responds the same way to stress. And when tempers flare, it is important to see beyond the incident to the heart of the matter. Give it time and patience.
