The nausea and vomiting can be reduced by a number of measures, some of which work for some but not for others.
The following 7 pregnancy nausea remedies and tips may be helpful:
  • Have a snack before bedtime to try to keep blood sugar levels up during the night time.

Nuts or a protein bar and a glass of milk would be ideal.
  • Eat small meals every 2-3 hours during the day even if you are not hungry.
This can help to avoid your blood sugar levels dropping too low which may trigger an attack of nausea.
Have high protein snacks handy such as nuts and cheese, and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables.
  • When you first wake up of a morning try to eat a dry biscuit or some such so as to raise your blood sugar levels before you think about getting up.

  • Drink plenty of fluid through the day.
Plain water is best but some fruit juice is OK.
Try to avoid caffeinated drinks such as tea and coffee.
Herbal tea can be a good thing though, especially one containing ginger.
Ginger ale is a traditional remedy for nausea that can help - it is best to let some of the fizz out first.
  • Get plenty of rest during the day as well as a good night's sleep if you can.
The more tired you are, the more you are likely to suffer sickness.

  • You might find an anti-nausea wrist band will help alleviate feelings of sickness.
These are fabric bands, worn like a bracelet, but with a plastic stud that you position over the pulse point on the inside of your wrist The idea is that this puts pressure on an acupuncture point to relieve symptoms.
