Guide Review - 'No Country for Old Men' DVD Review
While out hunting, Texan Llewelyn Moss (Brolin) comes across the remains of a drug deal gone sour. Examining the scene, Llewelyn finds one critically wounded survivor, lots of dead bodies collecting flies, and a suitcase containing $2 million in cash.
The decision to walk away from the scene with the money sets off a deadly chain of events. Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Jones) is on the case, hunting down Llewelyn after having done enough of an investigation to know he's on the right track. But the sheriff is just small potatoes compared to the hired gun (who sports a crazy hairdo that matches his sociopathic personality) who's hot on his trail.
Anton Chigurh (Bardem) will stop at nothing to get the money back, and it doesn't matter in the least how many people have to die in the process.
The Bonus Features
Fortunately, No Country for Old Men on DVD would be worth buying or renting even if it didn't include a single extra feature. The film itself is the reason to add this DVD to your collection, not the bonus material which is, to put it bluntly, basic and nothing special.
The DVD includes 'The Making of No Country for Old Men' featurette which examines the physical set, the cast, the hairdo, and other particulars of bringing Cormac McCarthy's bestselling novel to the big screen. 'Working with the Coens: Reflections of Cast and Crew' is exactly what the title implies. Javier Bardem and the rest talk about working with the critically acclaimed filmmaking brothers.
The third and final extra feature is 'Diary of a Country Sheriff'. This featurette is an intriguing look at Tommy Lee Jones' character, Sheriff Ed Tom Bell, and the part he plays in the story.
