Peephole Party Invitation Tutorial

103 29
One thing I rarely buy is party invitations.
This is for two reasons: 1) I feel like I have an endless supply of scrapbook paper in my craft closet and 2) I am cheap.
I have made several invitations for baby showers and birthday parties before with spending little to no money.
Most recently, I made whimsical invitations garden themed invitations for my daughter's second birthday party.
I personalized them with a recent photo of her that showed through a peephole.
This invitation works well for any type of party or event and are very simple to make.
Here is what you need to make these peephole party invitations:
  • Decorative or scrapbook paper
  • Paper-cutter
  • Double sided tape or glue
  • One inch craft punch
  • Small hole punch
  • Brads
  • Photo Paper
  • Regular white printer paper
  • Computer
First, gather several pieces of scrapbook paper that coordinate with your party theme.
Cut them in the desired size for each invitation with a paper-cutter.
I find it most cost efficient to make six 4"X6" sheets out of one piece of 12"X12" scrapbook paper.
Each invitation will use two 4"X6" sheets, one for the front cover with a photo peephole, the second for the bottom half providing the party information.
Next, design your photo of the party honoree.
Using your computer, create a 1.
5"X1.
5" photo of the honoree.
Several pictures will fit on one sheet of 8.
5"X11" photo paper.
Print them on photo paper and cut them into 1.
5" inch squares using the paper-cutter.
Use a one inch circular craft punch to cut out each circle for the front of the 4"X6" invitation to create the peephole where the photo will show.
Using tape, attach the photo to the back side of the front sheet of the invitation.
Finally, design and print the information for the party on regular paper using your computer.
Don't forget the date, time, party location, and RSVP information.
Cut them out (approximately 4"X3" depending on the information) with a paper-cutter and attach it to the inside of the invitation with double-sided tape.
Attach the two sides of the invitation by using a small hole punch at the top left corner of the invitation and secure it with a brad.
Brads can be purchased at craft stores in several shapes, sizes, and colors.
The invitation will now swing open from side to side.
Standard 4.
75"X3.
5" sized invitation envelopes can be purchased at any craft store.
These DIY party invitations are creative, add personality, take little time, and are quite cost-effective to make.
Consider constructing them for special events such as bridal or baby showers, birthdays, and other special occasions.
