International Travel Expo (ITE) Returns in Its 8th Successive Edition With a Bang!
The 8th edition of the International Travel Expo, Ho Chi Minh City - ITE HCMC 2012, the most established travel event in Vietnam, will be staged from 13 to 15 of September 2012 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) - Phu My Hung Ward, District 7, HCMC. Endorsing Organisations of ITE HCMC 2012 include Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, Vietnam, People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in partnership with the organising committee from Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Trade Fair & Advertising Joint Stock Company and IIR Exhibitions. ITE HCMC 2012 is staged on what is considered to be the powerhouse for The Greater Mekong Subregion in presenting new travel products and services as well as enhancing relationships among countries in the region.
This year's event promises a series of new and exciting features and programmes in addition to the highly anticipated trade exhibition. These programmes will cater to tourism promotion organisers, tourism operators, tourism industry professionals, international and local visitors. There will also be promotions of various participating international, national, city and state tourism destinations as well as the promotion of 4CODE - 4 Countries, One Destination for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam in the sub-Mekong region to enhance and maximise trade networking experiences for these countries with over 500 participating companies from more than 30 countries and anticipates over 18,000 quality, international and regional visitors.
Beside annual activities, the organisers at ITE HCMC 2012 have developed new key features to further enhance your trade fair participation: The first Tourism Ministerial Conference of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City will take place together with the CLMV Senior Officer Meeting to prepare for the programme of activities over the next 2 years. Endorsed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism and Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, this ministerial conference aims to develop programmes for tourism development according to the Tourism Ministerial Informal Agreement among 4 countries in 2011. Another key feature is Tourism City Mayor's Conference to announce the cooperation of four countries and The Greater Mekong Subregion in developing tourism industry of these cities including Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Phnom Penh (Campuchia), Vientaine (Laos), Yangon (Myanmar) and Bangkok (Thailand). The Mayors will sign an agreement to cooperate and develop tourism industry with detail orientations.
In addition, the International Hosted Buyer Program is one of the key features in ITE HCMC 2012 that cements the implementation of global and regional integration in advancing both inbound and outbound market interests of the show players. This program attracts about 180 key global buyers from 33 major markets that include the ASEAN countries, Australia, Canada, China, Europe, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, North America, Russia and United Arab Emirates. Buyers would be meeting international and local exhibiting sellers, establish partnerships with co-buyer participants, whilst exchanging insights with tourism authorities.
Organised for first time this year, the CLMV hosted buyer program for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV) outbound tour operators will empower international sellers with the opportunity to explore both inbound and outbound market opportunities in the 4 countries namely, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar through one platform.
A kaleidoscope of social and cultural functions will also be hosted to all local and international dignitaries and specially invited trade visitors. This year, the Opening Ceremony is held in White Palace with a series of cultural activities. With the topic "Mekong Night - The Legendary River", the Gala Night will bring out cultural performances, eating and drinking value and unique image of destinations of participating countries. International promotion organisations will introduce many performances to promote their destinations in "Cambodia Night" and other activities will be showed to onsite visitors like the cultural performances of Malaysia and Kazakhstan.
Back for the fourth year, the Tourism Alliance Awards will be held once again to reward, recognise and celebrate the brightest tourism stars in the "4 CODE" countries. A total of seven categories of the prestigious Awards will be presented this year: Airline of the Year, Outbound Travel Operator of the Year, Inbound Travel Operator of the Year, 5 Star Hotel of the Year, Resort Hotel of the Year, Restaurant of the Year and Ecotourism Accommodation of the Year. The Awards aim to instil a greater sense of pride and achievement for tourism industry professionals in all four countries and aims to provide a multimedia experience and an integrated cultural performance throughout the evening.
