How to Make Dirt Bike Trails
- 1). Use hills and natural slopes to design jumps, and avoid sharp turns, trees, rocks or jumps that are too steep. Design your bike trails before renting a compact tractor and starting your construction.
- 2). Move dirt to create jumps, banks and turns using a compact tractor. Use the tractor to build up dirt around the banks of turns and lead up to jumps.
- 3). Dig trails leading to the jumps and turns using the tractor. Ensure the surface of the trails is at a slight angle to allow for water drainage, and pack the dirt tightly.
- 4). Line the banks of turns with old tires to protect riders, and use hay bales around trees, rocks and other hazards.
- 5). Test the track carefully to protect the safety of the riders. If you have to brake hard before a jump, the trail is designed wrong and you should add extra turns to slow riders down before the jump. Reinforce any areas in need of support using additional dirt or old tires.
