Instructions for the Culligan HF-150 Filter
- 1). Turn off the water supply and open a nearby faucet to drain the pipe.
- 2). Wrap a 6-inch length of PTFE thread sealant tape in a clockwise direction around the threads of the two pipe adapters supplied in the installation kit.
- 3). Place the mounting bracket on top of the filter cap and align the inlet and outlet ports.
- 4). Screw the pipe adapters into the filter fittings by hand, then tighten with an adjustable wrench. Do not over-tighten.
- 5). Measure the total length of the fittings and filter cap assembly. Subtract 1 inch if the water supply pipe is 3/4-inch and 1.5 inches if the water supply pipe is 1/2-inch. Measure and mark the new total on the water supply pipe.
- 6). Cut the marked section from the water supply pipe using a hacksaw.
- 7). Place the supplied brass compression nuts and the brass ferrules on each end of the 3/4-inch pipe. If the water supply pipe is 1/2-inch, use the supplied rubber ferrule instead of the brass ferrule.
- 8). Align the filter assembly with the opening in the pipe. Verify that the filter cap port marked "In" is facing the incoming water.
- 9). Insert the pipe ends into both ports of the filter cap. Tighten both compression nuts with an adjustable wrench.

Slip the filter cartridge over the standpipe in the filter housing. - 11
Screw the filter housing onto the filter cap and hand tighten. - 12
Turn on the water supply. Press the red pressure relief button on top of the filter to bleed trapped air. Check for leaks. Flush the pipes and filter with running water for 15 minutes. - 1). Turn off the water supply to filter.
- 2). Push the red pressure relief button on top of the filter.
- 3). Unscrew the filter housing.
- 4). Remove the O-ring from the filter housing. Remove and discard the filter cartridge.
- 5). Rinse out the filter housing and fill it one-third full with clean water. Add 2 tablespoons of bleach to the housing and scrub the housing and cap with a sponge or cloth. Rinse the housing thoroughly.
- 6). Lubricate the O-ring with petroleum jelly and replace it on the filter housing.
- 7). Slip the new filter cartridge over the standpipe in the filter housing.
- 8). Screw the filter housing onto the filter cap and hand tighten.
- 9). Turn on the water supply. Press the red pressure relief button on top of the filter to bleed trapped air. Check for leaks. Flush the new filter with running water for 15 minutes.
