In early Tarot decks, made during the Renaissance period, the Wheel was sometimes labelled as La Rota Fortuna, which represented the Greek goddess Fortuna. Of note, early classical depictions of Fortuna portrayed her as standing atop the globe of the world, much like the Wheel of Fortune. In some Tarot decks, the Wheel on this card is designed with eight spokes, which many NeoWiccans interpret as representative of the wheel of the year. Sometimes, the Wheel is divided into quadrants to symbolize the four classical elements.

Reversed, the Wheel indicates stagnation and setbacks. New conditions and unexpected changes require you to be courageous and take some big steps, but remember that the energy you put into an endeavor will come back to you many times.
