    Add New Tile

    • Chances are you have tile somewhere in your bathroom--the floors, walls, counter top or shower. Replacing your old tile with new instantly transforms the look of the space. If you want to create a serene and tranquil spa-inspired bathroom, a mosaic with blue and green tile will help you achieve the look. Or perhaps you're seeking to create a posh and sophisticated look. If so, choose granite or marble tiles. For a look that's inspired by nature, use slate or travertine, or even tiles that incorporate pebbles.

    Update the Tub

    • A tub is an ideal place to soak aching bones and wash away stresses after a long day. If you have an old and shallow tub that you wouldn't dream of soaking in, update it to a more inviting model. A deep, claw-foot tub is not only welcoming, it also complements the look of a country or vintage-themed bathroom. You'll never want to get out of an oversize spa tub, complete with jets. If you have a small space but want to incorporate a tub, consider installing a Japanese-style soaking tub, which are small in diameter yet deep for soaking.

    Change Your Colors

    • Color can drastically change the look of your bathroom and give it a clean, fresh appearance. If you have a small space, open it up with light colors. For a dramatic look, paint two walls one color and the remaining walls a complementary color--for instance, gray and blue or burgundy and pink. Bring the outside in with colors inspired by nature, such as sage green, tan, pale yellow or sky blue. Create a country-chic look with pastel blues, pinks, purples or greens.

    Decorative Accents

    • One of the easiest ways to transform the look of your bathroom is by introducing new accessories. Hang a new curtain over your shower. For a country-themed bathroom, a gingham or patchwork print is ideal. Use a satin, silk or velvet material to create a luxurious look. New towels that correspond with the color of your bathroom hung on towel bars and stocked on shelves are useful and add pops of color. A new area rug is comfortable under your feet when you get out of the tub. A jute rug works in a nature-inspired space. Lay a plush shag rug in a retro-themed bathroom. Hang new art on the walls.
