How to Cut in Around Ceilings
- 1). Apply painter's tape, a low-tack type of tape, on the ceiling around the edges where the ceiling meets the wall. Press against the tape firmly with a putty knife to get the tightest seal and to prevent air bubbles, which will lead to paint getting under the tape.
- 2). Dip your brush approximately 1/2 inch down in the paint, then touch each side of it to the edge of the paint can to remove excess paint and limit dripping while painting.
- 3). Hold the brush vertically and brush it along the wall where it meets the ceiling. Next, turn your brush horizontally and go over the same section to spread the paint out in a thin layer.
