How Do I Repair a Corrupt Windows XP 64 File System?
- 1). Click the "Start" button on the Windows desktop and then click the "My Computer" icon in the menu that appears.
- 2). Right-click on the icon of the hard drive that has a corrupt file system and click "Properties" in the menu that appears.
- 3). Click the "Tools" tab in the "Properties" window and then click the "Check Now" button. Click the "Automatically fix file system errors" check box and click the "Start" button.
- 4). Click the "Yes" button if a dialog box appears that states:
"The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk."
Click the "OK" button and reboot the computer to start the scan and fix the corrupt file system.
