Real Estate Legal Forms Killing Trees
Your guts are splattered with nonsense and ink, triplicated, laminated, cut to size and pre-packaged for the fateful day that some human will sign their name to you and your guts will be relegated to some file box somewhere and stuck in an underground salt mine vault for eternity? The size of the legal forms in the real estate sector has grown exponentially over the last several decades, today even a listing agreement in many states is over 17-pages long.
Many attribute this to lawyers getting around the provisions in lawsuits, and others cite the regulators and pile on disclosure laws; both of these are factors of course.
But has anyone ever stopped to consider that with all these real estate legal forms so long now, no one reads them, and therefore they have the opposite effect.
That is to say they no longer protect the consumer, home owner, or real estate buyer with more disclosure because no one reads them.
Please consider all this.
