    About cellulite

    • Cellulite occurs when fat pushes against connective tissue beneath the skin, causing the skin's surface to look puckered or lumpy. Cellulite is found mostly on the thighs, buttocks and stomach. Genes are most responsible for who has cellulite and how much they have. Cellulite does tend to worsen with age. While there are many avenues to try to eliminate cellulite, there are no miracle cures. There are, however, ways to reduce its appearance.

    Diet changes

    • To reduce the appearance of cellulite, try drinking at least 64 ounces of water every day. Spread the water out throughout the day. Add antioxidants to your diet -- eat a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables daily, especially bright-colored foods. Consider adding some supplements to your diet.
Try glucosamine, a substance that helps the body establish healthy skin that's smooth and elastic. Also consider Vitamin B, essential fatty acids and lecithin, which is found in eggs and peanut butter.

    Exercise

    • If you are overweight, losing pounds can help reduce cellulite. Exercise is good for anyone with cellulite. Try a combination of cardio exercise, such as jogging and walking, and strength training. A massage can also reduce cellulite, though only temporarily. This is a good option if you're going to be wearing a swimsuit for a day.

    Home remedies

    • A common home remedy is caffeine. After lining the floor with newspapers, take used coffee grounds -- still warm, but not too hot -- and rub them into the areas affected by cellulite. You can use your hands or a loofah mitt. Then, wrap the area with seaweed. If you don't have seaweed, use plastic wrap. Leave the wrap on for a few minutes. If you want, use a rolling pin on the area to smooth the skin. When done, unwrap the seaweed or plastic, brush grounds off and rinse. Do this treatment twice weekly.
You can also try dry brushing your skin regularly. Use a natural bristle brush. Brush the skin using circular motions.
