How to Get Clay Mud Out of Carpet
- 1). Let the clay mud stains on your carpeting dry completely. Tap any mud chunks with the dull side of a table knife to break them up and loosen them from the carpet fibers. Pull the mud chunks off the carpet and discard in a trash bag.

Vacuum the carpeting to remove remaining dust and debris from the mud. - 3). Fill a bowl with 2 cups of warm water and 1 tablespoon of dishwashing detergent. Moisten a cloth with the diluted detergent solution.
- 4). Blot the mud stains with the detergent solution. Move to a clean portion of the cloth as the stain is lifted.
- 5). Rinse the carpeting with a damp cloth to remove the detergent. Press a dry cloth into the carpeting to absorb moisture.
- 6). Dampen another cloth with hydrogen peroxide to treat remaining clay mud stains. Sponge the stains to remove them. Allow the peroxide to dry on the carpet.
- 7). Tackle any last traces of clay mud stains caused by the presence of iron in the mud. Fill an eyedropper with commercial rust remover. Drop the rust remover onto the affected carpet fibers. Blot the carpet with a dry cloth.
- 8). Clean the carpet using the instructions in Steps 4 and 5. Allow the carpet to air-dry completely.
