How to Run Cords for Roman Shades or Balloon Shades
- 1). Run the end of the cord through the bottom ring on one end of the shade.
- 2). Run the cord up through every ring on that row of tape. If your shade has rings that have been sewn on individually, run the cord through every ring that is directly above the bottom ring.
- 3). Run the cord through the fixed ring that is directly above the row of rings through which you ran the cord. This part may be a screw eye in the board the shade is attached to or a plastic ring in the header at the top of the shade.
- 4). Decide which side of the shade you would like the cords to be on, left or right. Run the cord through every eye or ring on the board or header until you reach that side of the shade. The cord from the first row of rings will either already be on this side or you will have to run it through every ring on the board or header.
- 5). Pull the cord to the desired length for raising and lowering the shade and knot the end to prevent unraveling. The shade should be fully lowered to ensure the cord will be long enough.
- 6). Cut the cord an inch or two below the first ring and tie it to the ring.
- 7). Run cords through the each row of rings in the same way, taking each cord to the same side of the shade.
- 8). Tie the cords together near the top of the shade. The shade should be fully lowered to perform this step or you will not be able to fully lower the shade.
