Why is the division between Africans and African Americans? Part 2
What does this mean to a woman? In most societies, women generally look up to their men, and men look forward to their women. Unfortunately, most African American women look forward to their men and the men lookup to their women, a recipe for disaster in any relationship or marriage. Thus women expect men to step up the plate. To be strong, provide and protect the family. If I were a woman, I will certainly drift in that direction. So do you blame the African males for been good providers? Or why should that be used against them? This should be a good example to follow it you are lacking that trait.
The fourth strike against Africans is the view that the American government gives Africans money to start businesses and other helping hand that is not extended to them. Again, this is not true, I once told a joke in a training class that if anybody knows where they are giving Africans money to start their own business, I be happy to share the money with them 50% for showing me any government agency giving out money for been an African and a foreigner.
All these things and others compounded to have contributed to the hate and division among Africans and African Americans. Funny enough, it is extended from Africa Americans towards Africans than the other way round. Africans are in minority as compare to African Americans and Africans are not in position of power to afflict much damage on African Americans with any detrimental effects. Infact, most Africans are shocked by the treatments we get from African Americans.
The beef I have with Africans are; Africans are not sympathetic to the hardship, abuse, degradation, neglect and the atrocities that have been afflicted upon African Americans. Africans refuse to understand the psychology behind the way African Americans see the world around them and their total understanding of the world outside America.
The question is? Do you blame them for that? Your exposure reflects your views and our views are limited by our understanding. If you are limited, your views will be limited. Hence the saying traveling makes history real
Africans should let our positive attitude shine in a way that invites African Americans to come closer. We should be aware of how we sound and what we say. Theres a fine line between confidences and arrogance. Our goal is to let others know that you are Africans without acting superior.
Africans need to understand the position of African Americans, that the forces of natural selection may produce shyness or weakness in one situation and boldness in another. African Americans are bolder in America than Africans, just as I have said early, we both have to take advantage of what we have to offer each other to complete the quadratic equation, and make it for us all.
